Cineolio’s Cinenights

Film lovers can look forward to an engaging evening of international cinema, cultural exchange, and meaningful conversation as Cineolio’s Cinenights returns to The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi. 🎥✨

Presented by Cineolio, the programme brings together a diverse selection of acclaimed international short films, offering audiences an opportunity to discover powerful stories and perspectives from across the globe. Founded by Nawaf Al Janahi in 2020, Cineolio champions the art of short filmmaking and connects filmmakers with wider audiences through screenings at venues and events around the world. 🌎

The evening features five thought-provoking films. “Aspis” from Italy follows a viper emerging from hibernation as a new awareness begins to unfold. “Long Trip,” a Belgium-Iraq production, explores tradition and difficult choices following a young man’s loss. “Moderator” from the USA offers an immersive look at the challenging world of social media content moderation, while Peru’s “Puquio” reflects on family, memory, loss, and the hope of reunion. 🇮🇹🇧🇪🇮🇶🇺🇸🇵🇪

The programme concludes with “Tsutsue,” a France-Ghana narrative exploring grief and loss against the backdrop of a Ghanaian fishing community and a landfill reaching the ocean. 🎞️

Following the screenings, an open audience discussion moderated by Nawaf Al Janahi will invite attendees to share reflections, exchange perspectives, and continue the conversation beyond the screen. 💬
