Thikra: Night of Remembering in Abu Dhabi

Experience a powerful blend of contemporary dance, cultural heritage and spiritual storytelling with Thikra: Night of Remembering, a mesmerising production coming to Cultural Foundation Abu Dhabi on 20 and 21 November 2026.

Created by acclaimed choreographer Akram Khan in collaboration with award-winning visual artist Manal AlDowayan, this extraordinary performance explores the deep connections between memory, identity and ancestral heritage. Inspired by the ancient landscapes, mythology and cultural traditions of AlUla, the production reflects on a powerful idea: without a past, there is no future.

🌙 A Journey Through Movement and Memory

Featuring an all-female ensemble of contemporary performers and Bharatanatyam dancers, Thikra brings together expressive movement, ritual and visual storytelling. The production explores how memories shape communities, how traditions connect generations, and how cultural heritage continues to influence the present.

More than a dance performance, this 60-minute experience invites audiences into a magical and emotional journey filled with mysticism, reflection and artistic expression. The combination of contemporary choreography and classical Indian dance creates a distinctive stage experience for lovers of performing arts and anyone interested in stories rooted in culture and identity.
