Abu Dhabi to Host Middle East’s First Para Swimming World Series

Abu Dhabi to Host Middle East’s First Para Swimming World Series

Abu Dhabi makes history by hosting the first-ever Para Swimming World Series in the Middle East from 27–29 November 2025.

Hold onto your swim caps, folks—because history is doing a cannonball straight into Abu Dhabi! For the first time ever, the World Para Swimming World Series is heading to the Middle East, and let’s just say: it’s making waves (pun 100% intended). From 27–29 November 2025, the UAE capital will host the season’s grand finale, and it’s going to be nothing short of legendary.

So, What’s the Big Deal?

Imagine a pool where world-class para athletes race not just against the clock—but against every limit ever imagined. Now imagine that happening in the heart of the desert. Yep, the Mohammed bin Zayed City Aquatics Complex will be transformed into the world stage, thanks to the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination and the Abu Dhabi Aquatics Club, who’ve locked in a four-year deal to keep the splash going until 2028. That’s not just planning—that’s Olympic-level commitment.

Next Year Already Locked In?

Absolutely. Mark it in your diary, your phone, and maybe even write it on your bathroom mirror: Abu Dhabi 2026 is set for 26–28 November. Because why stop at one epic event when you can make it a tradition?

It’s Not Just Us

Abu Dhabi isn’t the only newbie on the Para Swimming party map. This year, Barcelona (Spain), Fuji-Shizuoka (Japan), Lima (Peru), and Paris also made their debuts. Honestly, it’s like the cool kids’ table just got a lot more inclusive—and we’re here for it.

As Craig Nicholson, Head of World Para Swimming, so beautifully put it: “Abu Dhabi’s inclusion is a testament to how far the sport has come and how far it’s willing to go.” (We’re paraphrasing, but he was definitely feeling the excitement.)

But Wait—There’s More!

Before the grand finale in Abu Dhabi, all eyes will be on Singapore, where the Toyota World Para Swimming Championships will take place from 21–27 September. It’s another first—Asia’s turn to shine! After that, the World Series picks back up in Lima (23–25 October) before the big finish in—you guessed it—our very own Abu Dhabi.

Why You Should Be There

Because it’s more than swimming. It’s passion with a side of perseverance, it’s grit doing laps, and it’s history being written—stroke by stroke. Whether you’re a sports nut, a casual fan, or someone who just wants to cheer like a lunatic while eating poolside snacks, this is the event to be at.

So rally the gang, get your beach hats ready (indoors still counts, okay?), and come celebrate a new chapter for para sports in the Middle East. It’s time Abu Dhabi went from desert dunes to deep dives—and trust us, you won’t want to miss the splash.
