Learning, conservation, and community engagement at Yas Island

The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center continues its mission to inspire environmental stewardship with the first Science Talk of 2026, taking place on Wednesday, 22 January at 6:30 PM. As the largest dedicated marine research, rescue, rehabilitation, and return center in the region, the Center invites the community to take part in an evening of learning focused on the future of our oceans 🌊✨.

This month’s session explores the importance of sustainable fisheries, a topic critical to biodiversity protection, economic resilience, climate goals, and long-term food security. The talk will be led by Dr. Dario Pinello, Unit Head of Fisheries Assessment and Research at the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, who will share expert insights into how responsible fisheries management supports both people and planet 🐠📊.

Since its inauguration, the monthly Science Talk series has welcomed over 3,000 attendees, covering key topics such as dugong conservation, seagrass ecosystems, and regional marine biodiversity. The program reflects the Center’s commitment to advancing scientific knowledge, conservation awareness, and meaningful community dialogue 🧠🌱.

Hosted in collaboration with leading institutions including Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, Emirates Natural History Group Abu Dhabi, and Nautica Environmental Associates, these talks offer a unique opportunity to engage directly with experts shaping the future of conservation in the UAE.
