Set in modern Tunisia, Promised Sky explores themes of solidarity, resilience, motherhood, migration, and belonging through the intertwined lives of three women. Marie, an Ivorian pastor and former journalist who has lived in Tunisia for a decade, opens her home to Naney, a young mother searching for a better future, and Jolie, a determined student carrying the hopes of her family. ❤️

Their fragile sense of community is challenged by the arrival of a little orphan girl, forcing the women to confront difficult questions about compassion, responsibility, and survival within a tense social climate. The film offers an intimate look at both the strength and vulnerability of people searching for connection and a place to belong. 🌿

Directed, co-written, and co-produced by Erige Sehiri, Promised Sky premiered at the 78th Cannes Film Festival as part of Un Certain Regard. Sehiri is known for filmmaking that combines documentary realism with compelling narrative storytelling. Her acclaimed debut feature, Under the Fig Trees, premiered at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight and represented Tunisia at the 95th Academy Awards. 🎞️🏆
